Six Organs cover Melvins for Aquarium Drunkard

I covered 3 classic Melvins songs for Aquarium Drunkard and they went up online today. You can listen to them Here.

I also wrote a bit about the band. I’ve been lucky enough in my life to be in bands that have opened for the Melvins on a few occasions. Mostly Comets On Fire, though there was the curious instance when my high school art punk band opened up for them when they were touring their Lysol record (I’m old). I didn’t see this, but Utrillo (drummer for Comets and drummer in the band at the time. We’ve known each other for quite a while) said that when we were doing our soundcheck Buzz walked into the building, stopped a moment to listen, then shook his head in disgust. Amazing. Utrillio is actually the one who turned me on to the Melvins by playing the Lysol record.

In other news, a nice review of the For Octavio Paz on Hermit went up on Dusted. Dusted have been supporters of Six Organs from the beginning so it’s nice to still get a nod from them. Thank you Bill Meyer. I do have something to say about that quote from Glenn Jones. It is a bit “off” but I’ll save for another time.

Thank you to all supporters and people who have bought the Octavio Paz. I think we’re about to order up another pressing, something i didn’t think would happen for a year or so.

At the moment I’m hard at work mixing the new Six Organs. I don’t know what kind of music it is.
